***5+ Stars***

This book consumed me. So much so I read it in one sitting!!! And considering I have been in major book slump this past year, that is amazing. I will warn you that there is a major cliffy at the end.

Viola has known Travis since he moved in across the street from her and her brother, Drew when she was 10 years old. Both he and Drew being the same age became really good friends which made her the best friend's little sister. Viola is not your typical outgoing type of girl. She would much rather have her nose stuck in a book than go out or you could find her following Drew and Travis around. This bothered her brother but, Travis didn't mind it so much. He and Viola actually became close.

That is until her 13th birthday when everything changed. That's when Viola found herself hating Travis with a passion. And Travis has no clue why. They continue the next 10-12 years avoiding each other. But when Viola finds herself needing to stay somewhere for 2 weeks for spring break her options are to either stay with her mom and her special person or suck it up and stay with Drew who happens to share a house with none other than Travis himself.

Choosing the latter, she packs up her stuff and moves in for 2 weeks. Little did she know that a war was about to begin with the one person she can't stand.

I can't express how much I loved this book. Friends to lovers or enemies to lovers are some of my favorites to read. Kennedy Fox literally keeps you flipping the page or tapping the screen until the end. And that ending!!!! I for one don't mind a cliffy especially when I want more of the characters and I definitely want more of Viola and Travis.
A rollercoaster of hate-to-love, This is War is an addictive romance between Viola Fisher, a senior in college, and her brother’s best friend, Travis. They’ve spent half their lives hating each other and goading one another, especially now that Travis lives with Drew, Viola’s brother. While the university is on spring break, Viola can’t stay at the dorms, so she’s forced to live at Drew and Travis’ place – only Drew’s not going to be there. Left alone for two weeks with Travis and his parade of girls, Viola and Travis pull increasingly crazy pranks on one another to show their hatred – but also to prevent themselves from acting on the insane chemistry between them.

This is probably one of the steamiest, most alpha-male-y books I’ve ever read. Travis is a gym rat, a guy who knows how hot he is, and knows women want him. His cockiness and giant d-bag-ness turned me off for SO long…except when you realize just how much Viola means to him. Viola, meanwhile, is a study freak, a Harry Potter nerd who adores reading and doesn’t realize just how much Travis might actually like her.

Honestly, it’s not a story that hasn’t been done before, but Kennedy Fox does it well. I liked how funny and strong Viola was, and how much of Travis’ work life was in the book. I appreciated that it wasn’t just about the two of them, but we also got to see their relationship with Drew, and other secondary characters, like Viola’s best friend, Courtney. I also liked that the pacing wasn’t mega fast, but allowed us to really see a picture of how things were.

My one issue with this book is that it just felt so unbelievable. Maybe guys like Travis exist, but honestly, not really in my world. It’s hard to find a guy who is that hot, that built, that smart, and that vulnerable at times. I get what the authors were doing, and it worked (holy HELL, did it work), but this is definitely a fantasy book for me. Even the explanations near the end of what happened to Travis and Viola as kids…they just felt too simple and easy for the amount of vitriol spouted between them.

That said, I can’t deny that this wasn’t an enjoyable read – or that I’m not totally going to pick up the next book immediately. Can you say cliffhanger?!
I almost stopped reading it about halfway through because I can't stand weak Hs. I kept hoping she would wake up and turn things around. Unfortunately, that never happened. Viola is one of the most pathetic Hs I've encountered. I read about 20 books a month and this is one of the very very few where I couldn't stomach her constant weakness. Seriously, how many women who have been hurt terribly by a man/boy in the past, have him flaunt having sex with someone else in his room right next to hers, then just can't resist his sexual advances to her - over and over and over again - then gets mad at him. I'm just not a fan of doormats. Clearly, I'm the exception in wanting to read about women who take charge of their life and don't take whatever crumbs the man whore is willing to send her way. Am I missing something?
Cliffhanger!
Book 1 of 2
Dual POVs

Viola hates Travis but she has a huge crush on him. He hurt her when she was 13 and she never got over it. To me, since she is 22 years old in the present, it means she is emotionally a 5 year old for holding a childhood grudge for so long. It's pathetic. I'm not a fan of her. Travis is a man whore who enjoys giving Viola a hard time when he can. He's pretty typical for this kind of book.

Their love-hate relationship drags on excessively in the book. I skipped chapters and didn't miss a thing by doing it. There is no need for this story to be stretched out to 2 books.

There wasn't a whole lot of imagination that went into this book. It's your typical "he's a jerk to her then he adores her" romance. I mention that because 2 award winning authors wrote this book. I expected something better than a run of the mill romance.
Never saw that ending coming. This story was filled with tons of tension that made their coming together all the sweeter. Just when you are feeling those warm fuzzies bam!
